Sergeant Major Victor-Viorel ION

Sergeant Major Victor-Viorel ION was born on 26 August 1972 in LEU, Dolj.  Following his graduation from the Romanian Artillery NCO’s School in 1993, he served as a gunner on infantry armored vehicle in 3th Mechanized Regiment and beginning with 1995 he served as a staff NCO in S1 (Personnel Section) / 325th  Artillery Battalion.

In 1999 he accomplished the Staff NCO Course and from 2002 to 2008 he served as a Chief Registry to Simulation Training Centre / General Staff.

In January 2007 SGM ION deployed to Afghanistan, for six month, as a staff NCO to Chief of Headquarters Support Group / ISAF / Kabul.

From 2008 to 2011 he was assigned as a Chief Registry to Romanian Military Representation to NATO and EU Brussels / Belgium and between 2011- 2015 he worked as a Senior Staff NCO at Personnel and Mobilization Directorate / General Staff.

In 2009 he obtained his Bachelor in International Relation and European Studies and later, in 2013 he completed the Introduction to NATO Course and Principles and guidelines for UN Peacekeeping Operations.

In 2015 he was promoted to Sergeant Major and from 1 November he was appointed as a Command Senior Enlisted Leader to Headquarters Multinational Division South-East.

SGM ION’s awards and decorations include “Non Article 5” Badge and Honorary Symbol “Homeland Security Commitment” for 20 years of military.

 SGM ION and his wife Larisa-Violeta have 17 years old boy, Vlad-Ionut.
