Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO visited HQ MND-SE
BUCHAREST, Romania - Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, has visited Multinational Division South-East premises in Bucharest, Romania to discuss the role the HQ plays in the Alliance’s mission of deterrence and defence.
NATO’s most Senior Military Officer discussed how the headquarters supports and coordinates the Enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroups with Commander of HQ MND-SE, Major General Iulian Berdilă. Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach also met with key personnel on duty in the headquarters. ”I encourage you to sustain the impressive momentum. HQ MND-SE makes an important contribution to the overall readiness of the Alliance”, emphasized Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO. Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach added that, from his last visit, ”changes are remarkable” and that being multinational is great for the headquarters.
Cooperation and permanent exchange of information between allies are key elements for NATO member’s efforts to overcome all the security challenges and threats and should bring more stability to NATO borders, included the Black Sea region. HQ MND-SE has been demonstrating its capability to respond to the new security challenges and will continue to adapt as the Alliance continues to prepare for and further develops its capabilities for any threat it is likely to confront with.
The Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO participated at Balkans CHOD`s conference, organized in Bucharest. Romania. During a common press conference with Romanian CHOD, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach said that “NATO continues to invest in the long term, making a commitment in the Western Balkans”. Also, he praised Romania's contribution to democracy, stating that NATO is determined to help the countries in the region implement reforms.
