Defense and Dialogue in Eastern Europe

BUCHAREST, Romania – On August 2, personnel from Headquarters Multinational Division South-East (HQ MND-SE) and NFIU Romania participated to an international event, organized within #WeAreNATO campaign. Col. Lucian Andrei, Ltc. Juan-Antonio Pina, and Cpt. Silvana Berianu, were invited to speak about the mission and the main goals of HQ MND-SE in front of almost 200 students, within “Defense and Dialogue in Eastern Europe” (#DDEE). On behalf of NFIU ROU, the main speaker was NFIU ROU Commander, Col. Cătălin Ticulescu.

This event takes place from July 31 to August 5, in Bucharest (Romania). It is organized by Euro Atlantic Diplomacy Society and it is supported by US Embassy in Romania and Public Diplomacy Division of NATO. It involves around 200 participants from all over the world, included non-NATO countries, with different backgrounds: Law, Political Science, International and European Studies, Security and Military Studies, Journalism, Economics, Media and Communication, Education and Culture, History, Social Sciences.

Reunited at Romanian Land Forces Command Barracks, MNDSE and NFIU Romania representatives explained the students our role within NATO force structure and our mission on Eastern Flank of NATO. Also, it was a great opportunity for both #NATO headquarters to highlight to students how we are prepared to face new security challenges and how we contribute to the Alliance collective defence. After an interactive presentation, MNDSE and NFIU ROU representatives answered students questions about international exercises and cooperation within multinational environment. for a diplomatic career, both on practical and content-related aspects.The main purpose of DDEE is to prepare students and young professionals for a diplomatic career, both on practical and content-related aspects. While the event aims to raise awareness on the defence and security threats that are now developing in Eastern Europe, it equally emphasizes the current issues on NATO’s agenda.
