Final coordination before NATO Exercise NOBLE JUMP 2017 starts

BUCHAREST, Romania - Headquarters Multinational Division South-East (HQ MND-SE) organized in its barracks the table-top exercise/ rehearsal of concept drill for NATO Exercise NOBLE JUMP 2017 (NOJP17).

Last 2 days activity gave the opportunity to the key stakeholders involved in the exercise to successfully rehearse the concept of deployment to assure that the execution will occur as planned.

“We had the great opportunity to conduct the planning and to conduct here the table-top exercise. It was a great cooperation and a great experience for us as well, and we are very happy to be here”, said the Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG) Commander for exercise NOJP17, brigadier general Torsten Gersdorf.

During the NOJP17, Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP) will be the leading entity for the entire exercise; meanwhile HQ MND-SE will conduct the execution of the Reception, Staging and Onward Movement (RSOM) of NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF/ L) elements in order to achieve a rapid and seamless deployment.

“The key task of the JLSG is to coordinate logistics for the NATO Response Force (NRF) as a multinational joint task force that includes the task of RSOM of incoming troops and also the sustainment of these troops”, said BG Gersdorf. “For the VJTF actually this task lies with the HN. So, that is the task of, in our case, the HQ MND-SE.”

The exercise will be conducted mainly in Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, where final destinations for the incoming VJTF forces will be Bucharest and the Joint National Training Center (JNTC) “Getica” in Cincu. Romania will play a very important role in the planning and preparation for the setup, deployment and redeployment of participating units within the exercise.

“The stake of this exercise is to bring all militaries safe to Cincu training area and safe back home”, said Commander HQ MND-SE, brigadier general Ovidiu Uifăleanu. “Besides the two NATO Force Integration Units (NFIUs), Romania and Bulgaria, it is important to be mentioned that Romanian forces that will train in the JNTC “Getica” belong to the Multinational Brigade from Craiova.”

This exercise involves 11 member nations: Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Great Britain, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain and United States of America. Also approximately 4000 militaries, where about 1900 militaries are VJTF forces and 500 military equipment will be energised during NOJP17.
