HQ MND-SE and NFIU ROU celebrate NATO Day
BUCHAREST, Romania – Headquarters Multinational Division South East (HQ MND-SE) and NATO Force Integration Unit Romania (NFIU ROU) personnel joined to celebrate NATO Day organized within the Ministry of National Defence barracks.
From April 2004, Romania has gained the respect of its allies and partners as it contributed substantially to implementing the Alliance's goals and objectives.
Since year 2005, NATO Day has been celebrated in Romania on the first Sunday in April.
NATO has implemented the Readiness Action Plan at the 2014 Wales Summit to adapt and meet the challenges in the security environment of NATO’s borders and beyond. The establishment of HQ MND-SE and NFIUs ROU ensures that NATO is ready to meet potential threats to the alliance now and in the future.
The Warsaw Summit held between 8-9 July 2016 was an important occasion both to enhance the profile of the North-Atlantic Alliance and a good opportunity to assess the implementation of the goals undertaken at the Allied Summit in 2014. During Warsaw Summit, it was announced that NATO will turn a Romanian Army brigade into a multinational one to increase the Alliance’s presence in Southeast Europe. The framework brigade for this project it is the 2nd Infantry Brigade ’’Rovine’’ from Craiova city. This multinational brigade will be under the operational control of HQ MND-SE.
